Netherlands, Frisian stoelklok, 30 hour, time and strike, weight driven movement with verge escapement, the clock resting on a polychrome painted shelf with scrolled decorations and lead ornaments with crowned lions, Roman numeral painted metal dial with
Case with simpler-than-usual painted design is quite attractive. One side ornament and dust shied will need to be reinstalled. One of the lead lion ornaments has cracked through the middle. Lead ornament above the dial has a broken top. Good brass clad weight and pendulum. Though the hour hand has the marking for an alarm, the clock is not equiped with an alarm mechanism. The crowned lion is likely a symbol of the Dutch Republic.
Otto Van Meurs, Amsterdam, Netherlands, wall clock, 3 day, time and strike with calendar and moon phase, weight driven movement in an associated mahogany case, engraved brass dial and chapter ring, applied cast spandrels, and pierced steel hands.
Newer mahogany case probably dates to late19th or early 20th Century. Case is in good condition and the top of the door has been recently sanded down so that it closes easily. The two crude finials are of cast copper. The entire pendulum is a new construction with a strip of sheet copper for a suspension spring. The seatboard and movement risers are made of new wood and held to the movement with modern machine screws. The movement shows many signs of repairs, some old and some new, some well done and some not. The movement has a recoil escapement and countwheel and bell strike.

Dutch Staartklok or Friesland 30 hour one weight time, strike and alarm stained wood hooded wall clock , c1860
the case has some repairs, age splits, scratches and minor losses and was refinished long ago. The brass finials are not correct. The old glass is wavy; the brass weight has an old patina and some dents. The colorful painted metal dial has darkened a bit, but otherwise is very nice. The 4-post movement ticks and strikes but was not tested long term The pendulum bob is not original but looks okay.
