Lenzkirsch miniature wall clock, C. 1865-1870.
High grade balance wheel movement, strikes a large gong on the half hour and hours. Old oak case is 20" high and has outstanding workmanship and style that this company was noted for. Movement is a square solid plate, outside count wheel, signed with the trademark they were using during this time period, also the serial number 137512 dates the clock in that time period. Evidently these nice clocks were not moved from pillar to post but stayed with one family. Their clocks are always nicer after 140 years than most other clockmakers. The fancy silver dial has etched numerals with black paint and etched designs in the center with gold paint. The brass is clean, wood is clean, dial is immaculate, same with the movement, and I felt like I was the first person to ever remove the dial and back to because the screw holes were not buggered up. Oak case has a lot of fancy carvings, etchings, turnings, etc. Just a real classy clock.
