Pristine French Inlaid Balloon Mantle Clock "The Dragon Fly
Anonymous (not verified)
23 October 2024
Antique clock, French inlaid balloon mantle clock, model the "Dragon Fly". SIZE: 13 1/4" x 7" CIRCA: 1890 This wonderful example is 100% original and in near mint condition. Solid walnut case with inlay dragon fly. Nothing has been altered or changed since it was made in 1890. The porcelain dial is perfect with the exception of a small repair above the 12. . Heavy cast brass bezel with original convex crystal. The original French movement is of a week duration with hour and half hour chime. The chime is very deep and resonating. The movement has been professionally rebuilt and keeps accurate time. This is not a marriage!! This clock is not to be confused with the Seth Thomas "Savoy". The Savoy is mahogany, 1" narrower and the hole for the Seth Thomas movement is 1" larger. I firmly believe that Seth Thomas did not make the series of inlaid cases, Parama, Florence, and Savoy. I have had several of the these identical clocks which were French. Therefore, I believe that the cases are of European origin.
