Winterhalter and Hoffmeyer miniature short drop.
The 8 day, time only movement is the early bird cage type, heavy wood plates, brass wheels in latter style. The back wood plate is stamped, WandH". A very interesting case, one we have never encountered. In some ways has a cuckoo flavor the way the back plate is attached and the inside of the case. Bottom trap door lets down to access the pendulum. One side door to look inside to see if the movement is still there. Octagon top held to case body with 4 metal pins, English style. All the case parts are stamped "VIIII". This little 14 inches high case has some very pretty burl mahogany, brass inlay, string and stars, around the bezel and rounded base. A little brass is missing. The original painted metal dial is not bad for its age. No doubt this is a rare early clock by a fine maker.
