Gustav Becker wall clock in a rare case style, ca 1880.
Open well balcony style, pendulum behind a large hinged door with two glasses. The large glass is flush to the front and the bottom is angled forty five degrees. The top has three glasses and applied carvings. Some might say this was the beginning of the Art Nouveau clocks. Very nice cream colored plastic dial ring, pressed metal insert has flower themes. The pressed metal pendulum bob displays a turkey in a tree. The top ornament to fit properly must be glued to the case body or a better flange holder made. No doubt the top is not original to this case. Signed Becker 8 day movement (GB in Anchor) is clean and in running condition but will need beat adjusted. Strikes a large gong on half hours and hours. Mahogany case is 36" high and in good condition, except; missing on top a piece of molding about 1 inch long, on the side. On the top of the case body, right side, a piece of molding about 7 inches long is missing.
