C.1900, French, Bernard Lyov, a Paris, red marble and ormolu base, with an EARLIER bronze female figure in classical robes, 8-day bell strike.

Condition: the red base is in nice condition with no chips nor breaks, only minor edge roughness. The cream colored dial has polychrome decorations in the form of wreaths, and with a chip in the top margin that does not show with the bezel closed. The well cast and finely detailed figure bears a signature on the right side "Musee du Louvre". There is a much larger original of this in the Louvre and this figure occurs on various style clock bases during the Victorian era. The signed movement is clean and running. Pendulum is a replacement. Height 25 inches
