C.1905, Swiss, Magneta, Master Timepiece Driven by its own electrical power, invented by Martin Fischer of Zurich in 1899.
Condition: as-found, this clock has lost its original pendulum and the one supplied with it is from a primitive battery clock. The basic movement is complete and sound, and includes the original pulley and weight. The 9mm strapping that holds the weight is fully wound 'round the main pulley and we could not hang the weight for the foto. Swiss Magnetas (no relation to other firms of the same name), are unique electric clocks in that they need NO outside source of electricity, since they generate their own power with a weight driven generator. Everything on this clock is HEAVY, so transport is sure to be expensive. The oak case has some dry splits and loose moldings and some repairs commensurate with its age. Both original bevel glass are intact. Height 84 inches
