C.1890, French for Tiffany and Co, NY, a bronze and marble tribute to Johannes Gensfleisch zur Laden zum Gutenberg, a quarter chime clock playing Westminster tune on 4 bells suspended beneath the "siamese" style movement. Condition: this is a one family clock that was sent up from New York, and other than a missing top molding on the rear door, is in good condition. The movement is signed Tiffany and Co, New York, and the Statue likewise is signed on its base, right next to the "Biblia Latina". Most students will recall that Gutenberg's invention C.1450 of movable zinc alloy type, cast in quantity in his own molds, is the single most important factor that led to the Renaissance throughout Europe. It allowed for the production of books in quantity and the disemination of information much quicker than hand writing, the previous system.
