C.1850, German, I. B. Saier, Saig [Baden-Wurtemburg], an interesting 2-weight wall clock, showing a lot of American influence, the 8-sided star shaped top similar to what Silas B Terry designed for his iron case, this one of mahogany veneer over pine.

Condition: case has been refinished; much of the painting on tin [a lady] has flaked away. We are unsure if the dial is original, although it has surely been there 100 years, open to show the fine work on the brass movement, geared for a weeks running. Movement is signed by the maker, and with two cast iron weights. The movable pivot recoil escapement [American style] needs adjustment. Ht 35"
