Lenzkirsch fancy RA clock, ca 1872. It was made the first year Lenzkirsch started putting their trademark on their movement.
The trademark on this movement was only used for one year and is called their "1st Trademark". The serial number on the movement is 225792. It is a typical 8 day, time and strike, rectangle brass movement, outside count wheel, with strike hammer attached. The dial back plate has the same number as the movement. The movement mounts to a brass back plate and the coil chime is also attached to that back plate. Long RA pendulum, porcelain center, and it has a porcelain beat scale and an old key. Two piece porcelain dial, small chips around both winding arbors, and there are nice old early hands. The two tone walnut case is 32" high and would be a bit longer if it had the bottom finial. The case has three glasses, many finials, slanted door edge trim, and some ebony painted pieces. This is a nice clock by one of the best European clock makers. Not a cream puff, as there are some minor chips or dents.
