although maybe 3/4 of the case is old and original, its condition on being found mandated extensive restoration. The area that supports the dial and movement has been reinforced [see detail photo On the top, the board that carries the hemisphere and 4 finials is new. Most of the the base had to be made; the waist section holding the finial is old, and the brass grate is old; balance has been tastefully made to match the overall appearance. Ht 88Ó
