although perhaps 3/4 of the case is old and original, its condition on being found mandated extensive restoration. The area that supports the dial and movement has been reinforced [see detail photo]. On the top, the board that carries the hemisphere and 4 finials is new. Most of the the base had to be remade. The waist section holding the finial is old and the brass grate is old. Work was tastefully done to match the overall appearance. Ht 88"
