The roof contains the clock and is lifted off for storage of note paper; there is an inkwell in the front. Paper dial with touch up at III; a neat item. Height 5"
C.1900, Seth Thomas, Mini adamantine advertising clock
clock for "Ripans", the miracle chocolate covered tabules for all ailments. Listed on the internet are testimonials from several users, and other information; they sold 10 tabules for 5 cents, or you could order for 48 cents a bottle of 120 tabules. This clock has some wear and tear and small chips, but the white adamantine is generally in good condition; rt column has been repainted gold and is still flaking more. Overall good+. Original ST dial is excellent. Of certain appeal to a medical person. Height 4º:
C.1919, One Hand Clock Co., Warren, Pa,
a generally good example of the 6" dial model (they came in at least 3 sizes). This particular clock has an advertising dial for Buffalo Envelope Co., but the clock sat in direct sun light and the ad is very faint (not visible in photo) the numerals themselves are quite legible. Also some oil has crept in from the movement and there are several small oil spots on the dial. The bezel has some small scratches where it has been removed for service, and the clock seems to run OK. With original base. Height 8' Reserve $200
C.1890, Yale Clock Co.
for George W. M. Reed Bitter Co., New Haven, "Our Grandfather's Clock". Although the advertising tablet was replaced long ago, and the dial repapered, the case retains its original ebony finish and gilt highlights on the Eastlake style case. Best part is the fabulous rear labelŠsee image. If this clock had the ads, we'd expect it to bring $1000. See also lots 184 and 185 Height 24" Reserve $500
C.1885, Yale Clock Co., Medical Advertising Clock,
for Reed's Gilt Edge Tonic, with restorations. The mahogany case on this clock is about the nicest I've seen and the original dial is very good (minor wear to gloss coat and along edges). Also this is an 8-day time + strike model, certainly the most desirable. Note also this clock has all 3 panes of glass with heavy bevel; later clocks only have the top glass beveled. But the two ads (Reed's Gilt Edge Tonic Cures Malaria and Indigestion) are color prints on new paperŠ..well done and even aged with lamp black. So we leave the final determination to you.
C.1880, Yale Clock Co., Medical Advertising Clock,
for Reed's Gilt Edge Tonic Cures, with restorations. This mini grandfather has a great look, but has had the following work: Ad on old dial has been repainted and pencil lines show; both lower ads are newly drawn by a talented graphic artist with India ink and pencil on brown paper, and with new cardstock backing. They are accurate representations of the originals. The lower case back was missing and now replaced with a piece of " plywood, painted black. We've seen these bring $1600 in advertising sales, and this reserve reflects condition. Height 17" Reserve $700
