C.1775, Johnson, London, Miniature Time and alarm bracket clock,
Anonymous (not verified)
23 October 2024
fusee, with original crown/verge escapement and finely engraved backplate (foliate with birds). This is a well made little clock with attractive proportions. The silvered dial with the maker's name and "London" engraved in the arch, and with a central numbered disk for setting the pull-wind alarm. The well carved side frets have had some small bits replaced, but are overall excellent. There has been a small amount of shrinkage in the oak carcass and the left rear upright has been relieved to allow the door to close (looks OK). Both front and rear door retain original locks; front escutcheon is new. The movement has been professionally cleaned and runs and alarms loudly. Ht, less handle 11", overall 13" Reserve: $3500
