This old clock has character, including a primitive movement with crown wheel, verge and cow's tail pendulum. The early models used rope, while this one is set up for chain. Note also delicate single hand and division track inside the roman numerals that divides the Lot 418 hours into quarters. In researching this we concluded that the wooden cover over the movement would originally have been hammered iron like the dial plate and hinge, so that is a likely replacement (done long ago and looks OK). Lastly, the rear plate of the movement is engraved "1664", and we interpret this to mean "in the style of 1664". Runs. Height 10 " (26.5 cm) Reserve $1250
