C.1848, Chauncey Jerome, New Haven, Conn, shelf clock
and 175 Broadway, New York, and 73 Hanover St, Boston, an early 8-day detached lever timepiece, in an iron front case with mother of pearl decorations. This clock has some minor items that need attention, but is overall in excellent original condition. Signature on original dial is still good, all MOP is present, movement is mechanically sound and even running through the dirt; hour hand incorrect; bezel latch missing. Best part is great original cardstock label with several addresses. Note the spring on the movement is 1 3/8" wide, and far too heavy to wind directly, so there is a 1/8 reduction gear to give the user enough leverage to safely wind it. Movement is signed. Original mirror in lower bezel is still good enough to shave by. Height 18" $400-600
