Is this Balboa or Cortez? A Spaniard in 16th Century dress, along with marine and conquest items: cannon, cannon balls, sail, axe, trunk and anchor, the whole resting on a base with waves and a bust of Neptune. The once silk suspension is now by spring, and the dial with hairlines around 7. Runs and strikes on a bell. There is loss to the gilding on the sides of the clock, but the front is still very bright, and the conquistador himself is nearly perfect; note crystal is open for photo to reduce glare. We were fortunate to receive such a wide variety of French figural clocks in this sale. Height 17 " Reserve $1300
