the dial signed E. CHARLES, a PARIS, the movement signed Pons and France. This clock is large and heavy, weighs 65 lb. After uncrating it, I had to take the photo on the floor, so be prepared for the task of getting it home. The weight is because the marble is NOT veneer, rather each of 3 solid blocks has been drilled to accommodate the movement and pendulum. Figure is a Roman soldier, home from battle, his helmet, sword and scabbard atop the clock, and in his hand a scroll (deed?), and in his left hand a plow; below the dial are two infants nursing from a wolf. High quality. Needs cleaning; Height 23" $2500-3000
