C.1885, French, Brass Cased Carriage Clock, a stylized Angle Riche case with a gorge style bottom, all 4 sides slightly convex, and with a wonderful floral mask over the gilded dial.

The mask is finely pierced and then engraved with vines and flowers. The dial retains original gilding and the signature of Theodore B. Starr, New York. The gilding on the outer case is about half rubbed off, but the quality is very nice and the case is worthy of regilding. 8-day, time/ strike/repeat, and alarm. See a cousin to this case in Christie"s catalog for Oct 28, 1991, lot 155. Height 7.3'
