23 October 2024
An unusual brass, by one of Americas most artistic makers. The back is cast iron, the sides, front and top are heavy cast brass, machined to shape, and the front with two inserts of green/black onyx. The porcelain dial suffered and has a chip at 3 and the dial center has cracks. Note open escapement on dial, and unique fast/slow adjustment below the center shaft. The 8-day movement of basic Connecticut design has open springs, and strikes the hours and halves on a cathedral gong. Heavy and well made; runs fine. Height 14" $275-375
