C.1890, English, 3-Fusee Bracket Clock on base. The massive three train movement chimes the quarters on your choice of 8 bells (Whittington) or 4 gongs (Westminster). The arched brass dial with heavy cast and chased spandrels, and with engraved chapter ring and subsidiary dials in the arch for Chime-Silent, Fast-Slow and 8-Bells-Westminser, and also signed "W. Bruford and Son, Exeter and Eastbourne' The base appears to be a custom order unit, built around the same time as the clock; although it has some carvings near the top and on the base, it is not covered every square inch with carving as is the clock itself.
