The gong striking movement with the mark of Guilmet, the vertical jig saw connected to the movement and forming part of the pendulum, giving the illusion of "sawing" up and down as the clock runs, the case in the form of a saw bench with the operator standing behind. For literature, see Derek Roberts' Mystery, Novelty and Fantasy Clocks, page 266, also Sotheby's (NY), June 28, 1993, lot 59 (Joseph Meraux Collection). The hands have been improperly replaced, but the clock is otherwise original and sound. This is an uncommon model and difficult to find. Height 15", Width 13" Reserve $11,000
