C.1890, German, Winterhalder and Hofmeier, 3-train bracket clock
in excellent original condition. This clock was made in the English style, with arched dial, cast brass spandrels and engraved and silvered chapter ring. The case is of well figured walnut, with reeded and stop fluted quarter columns and with original finish and nice patina; all case hardware is original. The heavy 3-tr movement is of typical W+H quality (signed), and chimes the quarters on your choice of 4 or 8 gongs, and strikes the hours on a 9th deep tone flat wire gong. The sound exits the case through finely cast side frets with red silk backing. After taking the foto, we removed the heavy gong assembly and placed it in the bottom of the case to avoid damage; it has outstanding tone. This clock was shipped here from New York and is a one-family clock. Special shipping required. Height 18" $2000-3000
