C.1900, Specialty Marble clock by E. Howard and Co., Boston.
Please refer to Nawcc Bulletin for April 1999, page 213, wherein Dana Blackwell reviews similar model clocks for "J.E.W." These clocks were special ordered by E.F. Caldwell of New York, and are always finished to the highest standards. This movement, serial number 2510, is signed E. Howard and Co., and is the heavy 8-day marine movement with striped front plate, developed for use in the model 69. This particular clock runs well, but someone has pried off the "6" and "7" and remounted them in the black marble 180° out. They managed to chip the marble a bit in doing so (not too bad), and that will need attending when you reverse the process. Clocks of this caliber usually bring in the $2500 neighborhood. A very heavy clock 23 pounds. Height 11 inches Reserve $1500
