I've not seen one of these for over 10 years. A line runs up from the movement to actuate the lower jaw and eyes of the monkey who is sitting on a pedestal. The eyes move up and down slowly and the jaw opens and closes, apparently in amazement at the wondrous things the monkey is reading in the book. The dial with traditional J in a star trademark. Intended to run for a day, the most I could get it to go was for around 6 hours, but it is all intact and original and certainly eye catching. Monkey is bronzed spelter with a painted tin back. Height 9" (24cm) Reserve $1350
