on a gray marble base. The silver gilt case with serpentine top, beaded bezel and engine patterned, striped back, all pieces with English import hallmarks for the year 1924, plus the maker's mark "G.S., HA St, Geneve", probably George Stockwell. The well made 2-train 8-day Swiss movement striking the hours and halves on a gong. The finely detailed porcelain dial panel unsigned, but of Limoge quality, depicting 2 scantily clad nymphs, dancing in a garden, beneath a metallic orange sky, and with an applied gilt chapter ring, 2.5" in diameter. This is a relatively small clock, only 9" high, and would have been an extremely expensive gift for a lady in 1924. Runs; 9" Reserve $6500
