playing Sonora chime melody on 4 steel rods. Late in their Sonora production, Seth Thomas changed over to rods to compete with less expensive imports. This clock still has the sturdy separate chime movement no. 119, winding at 3 o'clock, and with a long shaft to carry the torque back to the rear movement. Moreover this particular clock has a premium dial with raised bronze numerals (some discoloration). Case retains original finish; runs and chimes nicely. Height 14" Reserve $250
