Japanese short drop clock, very ornately decorated with rope carved moldings around the front edges. The case is 18.5" high, probably made with an evergreen type wood, probably pine, stained dark.
The rope parts are painted black. The lower glass is signed, "Aichi Clock Co.", has a fancy latch on the door, and a complete label inside, in English...
