This is an old English grandfather clock made around 1860. The cabinet appears to be rosewood and walnut. The clock has a long oval shaped window in the front door which is typical of old English made clocks. The clock is weight driven by 2 large and heavy brass weights, keeps perfect time and strikes a brass bell on the hour. The head of the clock is 22x35". The 13x 18 1/2. The clock is 8 feet tall from the floor to the top of the finial. The Roman numeral are 1 3/4 inches high and the second hand under the 12 is 2" long. The dial is in good condition but shows age. There is a moon phase at the top of the dial and reddish colored flowers at the top and in the lower corners of the dial. The pendulum rod is 38" long and the bob is 5" in diameter. This clock is a museum piece very similar to the clock in the Kentucky Governor's Mansion.
