An exceptional 8 day chronometer by Barraud's Cornhill London - no.454, with two tier movement and bimetalic compensation plus rare butterfly bottom wind ratcheted winding device. Refered to in "Paul Phillip Barraud" by Cedric Jagger, page 122 - Used by Captain W. Hope of the East India Co.,on a 14 month voyage to and from India, with a testimonial that it kept time to one minute 2 seconds. British c1810.
