C.1880, E. Howard and Co., "No. 60 Regulator", wall clock
in black walnut and in very good to excellent original condition. This is a clock for any Howard collector to be proud of. It has been in storage for several years and we unloaded it from a large wooden crate here at the house (the crate is included, but will not be at the auction hall). There are some shortcomings that need mentioning; the dial had been rubbed for years with a polishing cloth and virtually all of the silvering is gone and it is a brownish color (resilvering will correct this). The clock retains the original, numbered 4-steel jar pendulum, and one of the jars has a hairline stress crack and is seeping; we have a piece of mylar tape over this, which is only a temporary solution. Finally, at some point the top crosspiece of the door got broken off, and it has been carefully glued on, but the 2 glue joints do show. The original finish is overall excellent and all carvings and finials are intact. Original weight, pulleys, hands intact. Height 80 inches
