C.1897, German, Gustav Becker Tallcase clock

C.1897, German, Gustav Becker Tallcase clock in the Alt Deutsch style, in generally very good condition. The clock has some minor shortcomings: eagle at top is a brass American eagle (may have had a wood or composition eagle before), weights are home made and pulleys are new. The walnut case retains original finish with minor nicks and scrapes, and the bottom is warped a little and needs a shim to stabilize. Note this clock is top heavy and there is a bracket that must be screwed to the wall to avoid it tipping forward when the door is open for winding. The well made 2-weight Becker movement is properly signed and with serial number 1,215,961. This model is uncommon and quite attractive; it is short enough to fit in almost any home; runs OK; Height 88" ( longcase, grandfather )
