gong striking movement with brocot escapement, the helical spring torsion pendulum forming the animated "light" of the tapered brickwork case. The case is made of brass, cast to simulate a brick tower with granite corners. The clock is complete and sound, runs and strikes on a gong. The balance has several panes of faceted glass and is quite eye catching as it rotates briskly back and forth. For literature, see Derek Roberts' Mystery, Novelty Fantasy Clocks, page 257. We sold the sister to this clock in Nov. 2000, lot 312, for $11,000+. Height 24"
