the wooden case carved in fine detail with lilies and other shallow water plants with berries. It appears that this may be pear wood, as it is surely dense and hard. The case retains the original Chelsea house strike movement, serial number 180195. Mr. Napp and I agreed that this case would likely have been covered with gesso and brightly gold leafed when it was new, however once the gesso starts to separate from the wood, the options are limited. It certainly looks fine as is. Height 18"
