Serial 4484, the earliest Chelsea in this offering. This is a good original ship's strike clock, screw bezel, red brass, made for Charles C. Hutchinson, Boston, USA (the name is partially rubbed away). The lower section of the dial is stamped with Chelsea's die, and says simply: CCCo, Ship's Bell. Note the time train works fine, but this clock has a strike defect that will need attention. Also the glass has been replaced with plexi-glass and should be changed (under $4 for a round glass). This model sold in 1900 for around $40; in the 1917 catalog, the price had risen to $55, and in the 1923 catalog the price was $70, and the current retail for a new 4.5" screw bezel from a prominent internet dealer is $1147.50.
