Ebony veneer with brightly gilded ormolu accents, as-found. Note the knife suspension and pendulum have been moved from behind the movement, to above the movement (if you look closely you can see the crutch to the right of the pendulum), and the geometry is incorrect. The unsigned bell strike movement is original to the case and it has a great dial with tiny cartouche numerals, but you will need to deal with the pendulum. This is a nice period piece that deserves some attention. Note the 'cousin' to this clock sold at Sotheby's Meraux sale, 6-28-93, lot 191, for $2530. Height 23"
