Circa:1880 Materials:Oak Case; brass movement; painted dial;inlaid case with conch shell design on waist dooir and lower base panel. Description:This English oak tall case floor clock has a Biblical scene in the dial arch which depicts Daniel in the Lions Den. In the scene (see photographs) Daniel is shown in an attitude of prayer. The English oak case has inlaid shell figures and contrasting wood banding. Brass rosettes tip the ends of the scrolled top. There are two straight-line seams in the base-something frequently found in century old clocks. The eight-day movement is clean and running perfectly with a bell strike on the hours. The center wooden finial in the form of a twisted flame is a recent addition.
