Mahogany case in old finish with original brass paw feet. Old reverse painted tablets, and original painted dish dial. Signed on dial: warranted for Joshua Whitmarsh, Private-Captain Samuel Ward¹s Co., served in Revolutionary War, 1776. (Paper with provenance included.) Rare eight-day, time-and-strike, weight-driven, brass movement. A very nice example. (A nearly identical example was advertised by G.W. Samaha, in Jan. 1 977 issue of Magazine Antiques, on p. 118.)
