Grand Sonnerie or "blind mans clock" as it is sometimes called. Very nice clock for older people who don't sleep well. You know what time it is without turning on the light. Strikes 1,2,3,or4 times on the quarters, followed by the number of hours each quarter. Signed Gustav Becker movement, SN No.174706, ca 1875-1880. Has had some repairs in its life but nothing serious. Movement appears to be original to this case. Pendulum stick is period but has had repairs and could stand more. Porcelain dial ring is good but is held to the ring with a lot of hot glue. Movement has adjustable pallet dead beat anchor. Engraved dial, pendulum and weights. 2 weights are a match, 3rd is so close the average person couldn't tell. 48 inch walnut case, good looking top is old and appears to have always been on this case, but probably has not. Comes with an old crank.
