French Portico or Empire clock with a lot of dressing. 20 inch ebony case, twisted columns with brass rope around the columns, heavy brass decoration all over, inlaid brass and other case decorations. Heavy cast brass bezel and pendulum. Decorative on all 4 sides. 8 day French movement with outside count wheel, bell strike, and signed "Japy Freres". The clock is running. The only negative on this clock is the porcelain dial. There are some places that need attention. There are many people today that repair porcelain. This is the most decorated portico I have seen in a while.
