Wm L. Gilbert Clock Co. pressed oak case kitchen clock, one of the Steamer Set, this one is "Steamer No.46". Case is 25 inches high, note the "winged lion" on each side and the top. Strangely the base is the same as the No.47, that is comparing to the catalogs. I would think they grabbed up whatever base was handy when assembling the cheaper clocks. 8 day, half hour strike, running very good. Full label on the back. Gilbert's literature says, "Most Striking, Unique and Showy Carved Effects Ever Made. Only Possible by Our New Process of Carving". They weren't carved, they were pressed. Ly-Gilbert No.1255.
