C.1830, Philip L. Smith, Marcellus, Onondaga County, N.Y., 8-day time/strike column and cornice shelf clock with restorations.

23 October 2024
The well figured mahogany veneered case has been refinished. Some veneer repair is needed on the edge of the cornice and a minor repair on the base. The mirror in the door is a replacement. The bottom tablet painted on old glass is new. (The clock probably had a painted scene tablet). The movement used is referred to as a "Swiss Cheese Movement" because of the numerous holes cut into the movement plates. The dial is very nice with original hands. The label is very clean. There are holes in the base of the case which indicate it had feet at one time. Overall very good condition, and an uncommon maker and movement. Height 34Ó $1,000-$1,200
