C.1833, Marshal and Adams, Seneca Falls, N.Y., 8-day time and strike, full column and cornice, mahogany shelf clock.
This is the early version of their case. The lower tablet is original (with 2 cracks), but the curtain and pillars are still quite good (with some restoration from the rear). This opened curtain was used to highligHeight a litho print which was invariably pasted over the label. When the litho gets a little loose the first impulse is to remove it and of course you take off both litho and label (in this instance, fragments of the label remain). A nice old print pasted in here would improve it significantly. The floral center and eagle top tablet are new (but faithfully copied from NY originals). The weight channels warped a bit and the dial was shifted to the rigHeight of the uprights, along with shifting the movement, but both are original to the case. Overall very good to excellent.
