This is clock number 7, with signed certificate from the maker still glued inside the case. Simon and Aaron Willard perfected this clock in the late 1790s, and originals are on display at Boston's Museum of Fine Art, Old Sturbridge Village and also New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Their design is discussed in detail in "A Study of Simon Willard's Clocks", by Husher and Welch (1980), pgs 7-30. Although the originals are priceless, these well made copies have garnered substantial interest.
