Ebonized mantel clock supported on the back of tortoises with decorative brass pendulum bob that swings behind and between them. Brass applied decoration, lion side pieces and a marble finial having brass snake handles. Porcelain dial with several hairline cracks and a small chip at 12:00. Original engine turned bezel and convex glass having a scratch (not crack) at 6:00. There are two quarter spandrels on the front of the case; bottom are absent. Brass center of the dial has an animated angel who appears (as the clock strikes) to strike an anvil with a hammer in her left hand, the work piece held in large pliers in her rigHeight hand. Very eye catching. Ht. 14Ó to top of finial. $950-$1,250
