balance and cock intact, now in an early 19th century brass mounted red tortoise shell case, with restorations. The well made 2-fusee movement with fanciful engravings on the rear plate of 2 men with small dragon fly wings, and in a cartouche, a native American Indian chasing the young lady who was acting as a game decoy...(and has only a few leafy branches on her nude body). The dial also appears to be 19th century, nicely engraved, but the "s" is lacking on the name, with pierced steel hands, mask spandrels, subsidiary for strike/silent in the arch, and date aperture below 12. There are cracks and glue repairs to the shell veneer, however all mounts appear to be intact. Despite the restorations, this is a very early movement and certainly deserved the case that was found for it. Height 17.5Ó $4,750-$5,750
