This is an example that we have not seen before, with inverted cornucopia pouring their fruit out at the sides of the clock, and the tips of the cornucopia becoming well detailed ram's heads, each holding the end of a broad acanthus swag in his mouth. The well made silk thread movement is mounted into the central portion of a sphere and pendulum swings in the base. The ormolu dial has a circle of arrows in the center, and each numeral is painted on the stamen portion of a blossom, and surrounded by petals (the original numerals with wear commensurate with the age of the clock). The top of the "strings" are mounted with a typical female bust and a cross bar with flame ends. This is one of the most attractive lyres we have seen, and shows evidence of good care over the last 175 years. (left front foot with a small dimple) Original gilding and bronzing intact. Height 21.25Ó $4,000-$6,000
