C.1870, French, Lyre Form Clock with swinging brilliant pendulum, and in very good original condition.
This is a very attractive clock, the ormolu lyre made of two young winged boys, each blowing two trumpets [one trumpet bent], their body below the waist changing to curving acanthus drops that meet at the center support. The whole surmounted by the typical sun god, flanked by two roosters heads, each with the end of a well detailed rose swag with lengthy drops. The original gilding is brigHeight and yellow. Brilliants all intact; with counter-weigHeight that drops though a slot in the case and swings behind the movement for impulse. The dark rose colored marble base is excellent and setting on 4 cast/chased ormolu feet. The porcelain dial is excellent, with floral polychrome decorations, finely chased hands, and the Paris retailer, Puthon Aine, H'ger de la Cour. All mounts are of exceptional quality.
