The case behind the dial is well made with dovetail construction. The upper glass in the door is old but the painted decoration is new. The mirror is old and maybe original; wooden backing for mirror is old, but cut to fit from larger piece (nicely done). The old iron dial is original with some wear on the numbers, no signature apparent. The "wheelbarrow" type movement is generally attributed to Benjamin Morrill (and later to his son Harrison); see Parson's book on New Hampshire clocks, figures 355-356; these movements always wind at 10. The lead weight to this clock is not original. See also lot 472. Height 30.25Ó $2,200-$2,500
