This was a French invention used by the Paris Observatory to transmit time signals to slave clocks. It has a half second pendulum made of Invar with a horse-shoe shaped magnet as the bob, one pole of which passes through an electromagnet, and a brass sphere above, which is mounted on a threaded part of the rod and is used to rate the clock. The movement is mounted to a marble plate for rigidity. The original dial has a couple of minor flakes and showing some signs of lifting of the paint. The oak case that surrounds the movement is in good condition. The hands are original. A scarce item in the U.S. Height 18Ó $600-$700
